From the archive, first published Monday 11th Feb 2008.

A GROUP of children will benefit from a project set up jointly by Brentwood Council and Essex County Council.

The Team Around Schools, Children and Communities group (TASCC) in Brentwood South, which provides support and advice for young people, has selected 12 youngsters from primary schools around the area to participate in activities including arts and crafts, climbing, archery and team building games.

The children have been identified by TASCC as being likely to benefit from the project, which is designed to engage with children at an early age and develop confidence, self esteem and social skills.

Phil Baker, chairman of Brentwood Council's leisure sport and culture panel said: "This project is one of the first of many partnership projects that will see Brentwood Council and Essex County Council working closely together to deliver improved services for our local residents."
